Deleting your account
What to do, what goes, and what is kept.
How to ask
Send a message to info@taiko.live from the email address on the account, with the word delete in it. That is enough; there is no form to fill in. If you cannot write from that address, say which account you mean and we will ask you something only its owner would know rather than simply refusing.
You do not need a reason, and you will not be talked out of it or asked to complete a survey.
What happens
- Your account and sign-in credentials are erased.
- Your player record, your games, your fleets and planets, your saved designs and your messages in those games are erased.
- Games you shared with other players keep happening. Where the history of a game would otherwise make no sense, your former position is left in place under a neutral name with no link to you.
- You get a confirmation when it is done.
We aim to complete a deletion within 30 days, which is what the GDPR allows, and in practice it is usually the same week.
What is kept, and why
- Server logs containing an IP address or a request path may survive in rotated logs and backups for up to 90 days, after which they age out. They are not used to rebuild a deleted account.
- Backups are encrypted snapshots taken nightly. A deleted account disappears from them as they expire rather than being edited out of each one; we do not restore a backup to recover deleted data.
- Records we are required to keep — for example correspondence about a legal or accounting matter, if there has been any — are kept for as long as the law requires and no longer.
Deleting the app is not deleting the account
Removing Taiko from your phone removes the app and its local data from that device. It does not reach the server, because your games live there and other players may still be in them. Use the route above if you want the account itself gone.
While Taiko is in internal testing, accounts belong to testers and may be removed wholesale when a test world is reset. That is not a substitute for this page: a request made here is honoured whatever else is happening.
